Replacement therapy: Primary immunodeficiency syndromes; chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, multiple myeloma or after an allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation that lead to hypogammaglobulinaemia; congenital AIDS w/ recurrent bacterial infections. Immunomodulation: Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), Guillain-Barre syndrome, Kawasaki disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Primary immunodeficiency syndromes Initially 0.4-0.8 g/kg followed by at least 0.2 g/kg every 3-4 wk. Secondary immunodeficiency, congenital AIDS & hypogammaglobulinaemia after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation 0.2-0.4 g/kg every 3-4 wk. Primary immune thrombocytopenia 0.8-1 g/kg on day 1, may be repeated once w/in 3 days or 0.4 g/kg daily for 2-5 days. Guillain-Barré syndrome 0.4 g/kg/day for 5 days. Kawasaki disease 1.6-2 g/kg in divided doses over 2-5 days or 2 g/kg as single dose in combination w/ ASA.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ antibodies against IgA.
Special Precautions
Patients receiving human normal Ig for the 1st time, high rate of infusion, hypo- or agammaglobulinaemia w/ or w/o IgA deficiency, overwt, diabetes, HTN, hypovolaemia, vascular diseases, hereditary or acquired thrombotic disorder, thrombotic episodes, disease causing viscous blood, renal impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Elderly ≥65 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
